Round cushion cotton
There are three design patterns. Choose your favorite design in your preferred color and pattern. It can also be used as an accent for sofas and other items.
The Kyoto zabuton, handcrafted with care by skilled artisans, has three major characteristics. The first is the stitching in the center of the zabuton. Most zabutons other than Kyoto zabutons have a cross stitch, but Kyoto zabutons feature a "three-way stitch" as shown in the photo. The origin of this is unclear, but it is said that the three-way stitch indicates the front of the zabuton to avoid any embarrassment when presenting it to customers. The second characteristic is that the back of the Kyoto zabuton is flat, while the front is raised in the center like a kamaboko (fish cake). This design incorporates a traditional technique where more stuffing is placed in the central area to prevent sagging. The third characteristic lies in the tassels at the corners of the zabuton. The tassels on a Kyoto zabuton are designed to grasp the stuffing at the corners, which is a traditional technique that prevents the stuffing from coming out easily. This differs from more recent zabutons, where corner tassels are merely decorative.
